As I mentioned in my last post, I’m living and working in Europe right now. The Netherlands (or Holland) to be exact.
As a location independent employee I decided that I need to get out and see the world while I could rather than stay at home in the USA in my comfort zone.
It’s been an amazing journey and I’m not sure I’ll ever get sick of it or want to live permanently in one place ever again. I love the freedom of not having a lease or mortgage to tie me down. If I want to go somewhere, I just pack up my bags and go.
Right now I’m loving Holland so much that I think I’ll be here for a while. There are two things that I absolutely love about Holland and those are:
- I ride my bike everywhere
- They put mayo on fries
Let’s start with #2 since it’s so delish. They put mayo on french fries here and, although it looks so so so so so so so gross, it’s amazing. I like to dip them in mayo then in ketchup… oh wow, my mouth is actually starting to salivate. Try it and tell me it’s not good. I dare you.
Then there are the bikes. Pretty much everyone here rides a bike no matter where they are going or how hard it’s raining. (Did I mention it rains here a lot!?!?)
I am loving this so much! It makes me feel like I’m a kid again riding my bike around Europe. It’s a feeling I did’t think I’d feel until I helped my (future) children learn how to ride a bike.
Just take a look at how many bikes there are. There are so many they built a massive bike parking structure by the train station:
Pretty amazing, isn’t it!?!
Well, I better get back to riding my bike with a smile all the way from ear to ear as I ride to the coffee shop to do some working on marketing a book for a client!
